Richard Allen Preparatory Charter School Counseling Department
RAPCS Counseling Department aims to support the psychological, academic, and social development of students, while fostering independence, critical thinking, emotional regulation, and problem solving skills. The Counseling Department also aims to create a safe and empowering space that students feel comfortable being themselves, sharing, and growing.
RACPS offers:
Individual counseling, Groups for Social Emotional Learning and Life Skills, Outside Counseling Service Groups, Open Door Policy or ability to make appointments, Referral to Outside Behavioral Health Services, Career Development, High school Application Guidance, Meditation and Mindfulness
RAPCS will be utilizing an evidenced based curriculum called SOLER for students with social and emotional learning challenges and providing guided group interventions. Strategies being practiced include challenging negative thoughts, validating, active listening, self-reflection, goal setting, self-awareness, identifying emotions, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and emotional regulation.
